The other day my friend and I watched Thor and she remarked that Loki is unique from other Marvel villains because while you can see in their eyes that they simply ooze pure evilness, Loki’s eyes had this permanently mischievous look in them no matter what kind of nefarious act he was committing, almost as if he didn’t really mean them to be evil but as petty tricks (I know killing Coulson is NOT mischievous). And this is almost a measure of skill because apparently Tom is such a good actor that he can simply compress the character of a person into his eyes. I mean I read somewhere that he could have just portray Loki as a two dimensional villain but he choose to look deeper instead. I threw in Captain Nicholls because he had a 360 character change in Warhorse:D

i find this quite fascinating.

you can tell if an actor is GREAT by how one portrays their roles. for Hiddles, he’s already great at portraying his roles, but other than that, it’s his eyes…they tell a different story…in those deep, mystical, and fascinating eyes.

it tells you the story - the background - of the character he’s playing as. and one does not usually see this. it’s subtle, but it is there.

i’ve actually watched Thor more than twice already, and i always thought something was missing at how i analyzed Loki as a character. and now, i think i know. i’ve finally realized it… 

i mean, Hiddles has always mentioned it, and i know i though i’ve empathized with Loki…but i still didn’t get what was missing the times i’ve seen him as his character, as Loki.

Loki IS human. he is a God, but there’s human in him. this was the thing. the thing i missed and never realized the first time around. and Hiddles gave him that. he made Loki - he portrayed him like this. and i think this is why we love Loki so much. he is just like us, some of us have felt that way - don’t deny. Hiddles made Loki just like one of us…so we can empathize with him, and would not just push him aside as “just another fictional character.”
